As Physicians and Medical Practices are aware, the effective date for ICD-10 is fast approaching – October 1, 2014.  ICD-10 represents almost a 10x increase in the complexity of medical billing and collection codes.

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services published a News Update on March 17, 2014 entitled ‘Road to 10:  The Small Physician Practice’s Route to ICD-10’.

Helpful ICD10 Tool for Medical Providers

In this insightful alert, the CMS announced the launch of ‘Road to 10′, a “free online resource built with the help of physicians in small practices’ to assist them in transitioning to ICD-10.  For Medical Practices, Physicians and Medical Billers, access the CMS’s Road to 10 online guide by clicking here.

Notably, the ‘ Road to 10’ enables medical practices and medical billers to develop action plans for their ICD-10 transition including:

  • Use of medical billing codes.
  • Preparing an ICD-10 transition budget.
  • Training a Medical Practice’s team on ICD10.
  • An ICD-10 transition checklist for processes, policies, procedures, systems and forms.
  • An engagement plan for Physician’s partners including software providers, medical billing services and clearing houses.

Whether your practice is is focused on Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB-GYN, Cardiology or Orthopedics, the CMS has designed the resources below to be helpful to you.
